My agent was not very professional and would often send a very inexperienced proxy on home tours instead of attending them herself.

Not a great experience with her. We were overseas and had to rely a great deal on our real estate agent. When we finally arrived we were able to walk through the house and saw that a lot of things appeared to have been misrepresented or we were not informed about. (A lot had to do with damage or issues with the house). There was an inspection done using a company recommended by the realtor however it appeared the inspector put minimal effort in and seemed to use a lot of “CYA” jargon in his report that didn’t provide accurate or good information about the condition of the house. Then for the stuff that was identified a company again recommended by the realtor was used to “fix” the issues. During the final walkthrough we discovered completely obvious issues that the inspector didn’t report and that our realtor didn’t tell us about (ie the floor moves when you walk on it, and the giant area in the ceiling from previous water damage that the inspector said he identified in his report as (“random patching” in some parts of the walls and ceiling) we also discovered the person who was hired to fix the issues previously identified didn’t fix some and completely half assed others (ie placing a small nail in a hole in the deck and saying that it was lag bolted…the nail of course fell out). When we discussed the issues with the realtor she said basically we’re out of luck…we can try to get the guy to fix the previously identified issues but the stuff not identified during the inspection we wouldn’t be able to do anything about..and we weren’t able to get out of buying the house( despite many of the issues we saw causing us to question our decision) without losing a significant amount of money or risking being sued based on where we were at in the process..overall it was an awful experience. We relied on our realtor and trusted her but we were completely let down. My perception after this experience is that the realtor, inspector, and construction company are all close knit and consistently refer business to each other despite the completely low quality of work that they all place into their jobs.

Our VU realtor (Tamara Herring) was horrible. Please see what you can do to get her off VU’s network

It was perfect! I had a lot of doubts on if I would even purchase a house at the beginning and I had a strict timeline I had to go by. I was super close to not asking for a real estate agents help because I thought I wouldn’t need one and I was so on the fence. I am extremely busy with work, I was living over 6 hours away, and simply didn’t have the time to do everything on my own. Lisa made me matter every single day. She was invested in me as a person and I could tell she wanted what was best for me. She lined up an entire day on short notice with houses all over that I didn’t have the time to do. I was able to find a place on day 1 in an absolutely crazy market. With VA I didn’t understand market value and how much the appraisal mattered. If it wasn’t for Lisa’s help I would have put myself in a situation where I likely didn’t have a home for awhile. I simply don’t have the right words to explain just how grateful I am to have had the opportunity to work with Lisa. She went above and beyond and I don’t think I could ever thank her enough. I don’t believe I could have worked with anyone that helped me while being invested in me at the level Lisa was.
