Initially, Corey was responsive and seemingly and very helpful. The weekend we were supposed to see houses, we suffered a death in the family. Corey understood we would not be available to tour houses and instead offered a virtual tour of any home we wanted to see. The first house we viewed seemed perfect and he tried to broker a deal for a VA Transferable Loan. The deal ultimately fell thru on the Sellers end and was not a reflection on Corey or us. After the deal fell through, my wife and I decided to look elsewhere. We had Corey provide us with a virtual tour of a second home and ultimately make a, offer on the home. This is where things became off.Offer
Corey stated in NC, we were required to provide Due Diligence Funds. He said it would take $5K in DD funds to for the sellers to take us seriously and remove the house from the market. The most we could muster was 2K. Corey pressed us for more money and made it seem this was a requirement, despite not needing it for the first offer. Furthermore, Corey said any seller would reject the offer right off the bat without the funds. A cursory search on NC State law shows this is common, but is not a requirement. Corey’s attitude conveyed to us he did not want us to back away again as if his time and effort was not worth helping us find a third home.Walkthrough
During the walkthrough, Corey made it seem as if the house was turnkey and flawless. Upon our walkthrough, the day before we closed, we identified multiple issues which were not reflected in the inspection or mentioned by Corey. While we understand not everyone pays attention to minor issues, multiple issues were identified within 15 mins of us walking the house. At the end of the walkthrough, Corey took the house key with him and stated he was going to drop it off at the Law Firm who would be assisting with our closing.Closing:
Corey, called us the morning of close and stated he would not be there. This seemed odd and against everything I knew about Real Estate Agents. We proceeded to close with the Attorney guiding us through our paperwork. Upon completion the Attorney asked what we thought about Corey. Apparently, Corey had asked the Attorney to work around a titling issue previously and when told it was illegal, Corey became upset. The attorney did not disclose any further information other than Corey was mad at him.
The Law Firms Notary told us as soon as the title was recorded, we would be able to get the keys. However, Corey, nor the sellers Realtor dropped the keys off at the law firm. When we exited the Law Firm, we attempted to call Corey and twice was sent to voicemail. He later called and said he was in Raleigh and was busy. We went to lunch and waited for the Notary to call us and confirm we were recorded. Once the Notary called us, we asked about the Keys. She stated they still had not received the keys.Keys
We again called Corey and he said the seller has reset the keypad on the front door and we could Google how to reset it and enter our home……We told him no, we wanted the key. He said he could meet us in a couple of hours around 130PM. On arrival, Corey said he had to go get the key from the other Realtor, which was a ridiculous lie considering he had the key the day prior and was supposed to drop it off. Recalling what the Attorney said about him being upset, seemed to answer the why Corey did not drop the key and was not present at our closing. In either case, this was his job to be present and he failed.Corey finally arrived to our new home with our key and was curious if we were planning on changing the locks. A seemingly innocent question, but after trying to keep our key made us nervous. He also asked for the appraisal report, something I would presume he should have or have received from the loan officers. At a certain point, we really weren’t sure what Corey actually did for us other than make the offer.
Issue identified last minute.Due to multiple issues, we identified that require immediate repair, this has gone from a turnkey home, to placing us in a financial constraint. The refrigerator needs replacement. The fence has multiple spots which need repair, are missing planks, or is falling down. The water heater is fifteen years old and hardly provides warm water. The garbage disposal does not work. The locks on the fence gates are falling off and need replacement. There are holes in the walls which need patching. The A/C vent in the kitchen area was missing. There is a large hole underneath the swing set approximately 3’ wide and 2’ deep. Ultimately, we realized to never buy a home sight unseen again. We would NOT recommend Corey as a Realtor.

Stu was absolutely fantastic. I’ve been in the process a while and worked with other agents who just didn’t feel right. I appreciated the time Stu took to get to know me and understand what I would want in a home even though this was my first time buying. He was patient and really felt like he looked out for me and wasn’t trying to just get me in any home. I have raved about Stu to my friends and family and would absolutely recommend him to anyone looking at buying.

Alexa was amazing. She went out of her way to find the house we are now calling home. We were about to take an offer on one house but Alexa thought we would like another one better. She was right and she went to work right away to ensure we got it! Truly loved our experience with Alexa.
